For 3 generations the Bursey Family has operated a wholesale and retail fish business in and around St.John’s, NL.

In 1923, William J Bursey moved his family from Old Perlican, Trinity Bay, NL to open Fort Amherst Seafoods originally on the South Side of St. John’s Harbour, then to Duckworth Street and eventually Quidi Vidi Village and Portugal Cove.

In 1969, his son, Marshall H Bursey Sr started Variety Foods Ltd, another family venture specializing in fresh, frozen and processed fish and grocery brands.

Today, Marshall H Bursey Jr continues the tradition of dedication to quality products.  With a commitment to offering a selection of items to satisfied customers, Variety Foods in the 21st century has a wholesale selection of fresh, processed and frozen fish and seafood.  Variety Foods also produces the retail Land and Sea Brand and Krispy Batter mix.
